By Kevin Hendricks, The Paper. — UNM Health patients should stay home Monday. A cybersecurity issue forced the University of New Mexico Health System to cancel every clinic appointment and send ambulances to other hospitals.

UNM Health officials announced the shutdown Monday, Oct. 26. They said teams are actively working to fix the problem. The health system cancelled appointments at all of its clinics for the day and told patients not to show up at any UNM Health facility, according to a news release.

Anyone facing an emergency should call 911, officials said. Patients with non-emergency needs should put off care until further notice.

The release did not say what caused the issue, whether patient information was exposed or when ambulance service and appointments will resume. This story will be updated as more information is gathered.
