The Roswell Elks Lodge's trunk-or-treat event was one of the earliest Halloween events on Oct. 16. Any kid or kid-at-heart that missed it has many fun events to choose from this weekend. (Christina Stock Photo)

Tall and small, spooky or cute, all trick-or-treaters have lots of events to choose from this Halloween weekend. Some of our favorites are published in tomorrow’s edition of The Roswell Daily Record; others came in after press time, and we’ll share it here.

Countdown to get a fresh pumpkin is going — St. Mark’s Lutheran Church pumpkin patch, 2911 N. Main St., uses the event as a fundraiser to support various charitable organizations in town. The patch is only open until Saturday from noon to 6 p.m., or when the pumpkins are gone.

There are many organizations, hospitals and businesses that are having candy for trick-or-treating in offices and trunk-or-treats in parking lots. One of those organizations is the Spring River Rehabilitation and Care Center, 3200 Mission Arch Drive. They’ll have a “spooktacular” afternoon prepared on Friday, starting at 3:30 p.m. Also on Friday, from 4 to 9 p.m., the public enters for free for The Liberty’s Haunt Fest Halloween Market, 312 N. Virginia Ave., with vendors, spooky drinks, light snacks and bites, and trick-or-treating for the kids.

Another event is organized by BCA Medical at 813 N. Washington Ave., which has games and prizes, a cake walk, jolly jumper and lots of trunk-or-treat fun planned on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m.

Close to 50 businesses on North Main Street participate in the third annual Downtown Roswell Candy Hunt. Kids and families are invited to dress up. The shops have maps ready, and trick-or-treating starts on Saturday at 10 a.m. and goes until 7 p.m. or the candy runs out. “Be there or be scared,” is this year’s slogan.

Part of the fun is visiting the Runyan Ranch’s petting zoo, which will be at 117 East Second St., with all their cute animals, who will be dressed in costumes, too.

The car dealerships on Second Street are joining in the fun on Saturday. One of them, at 2111 West Second Street, has a lot of free fun prepared. There will be free facepainting, free hot dogs, drinks and cotton candy. Of course, there is trunk-or-treat fun but also a scary maze and food trucks.

Grace Community Church is ready for its Trunk or Treat Blocktoberfest on Saturday, a little earlier than usual, from 3 to 5 p.m., so kids don’t miss out on trick-or-treating in their neighborhoods afterward.

Halloween isn’t Halloween if there’s not a spooky “Haunted House,” and this year, Tobosa is inviting everyone to get really scared at 102 N. Missouri Ave., Friday and Saturday from 6:30 to 10 p.m. This is a fundraiser for Tobosa to support people in the community who need support.

Something new and different happens on Saturday at Reischman Park downtown Roswell: It’s the Mortals & Monsters Market, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ghouls and zombies, ballerinas and cowboys. can start off with line dancing at noon. Talented Roswellians who can let loose a witches’ cackling laugh can win “Market Bucks” at the Witches’ Laugh Contest. One of the highlights of the day is the costume contest at 1:30 p.m.

Once the kids are all sugared out, it’s time for adults to have fun. The American Legion, 1620 North Montana Ave., is opening its doors at 9 p.m. for a “Night of Horror” with music, bar specials and up to $1,000 in cash prizes for the best costumes. This is a strictly 18-years-and-up event, and security is enforced.

This is just a glimpse into all the events happening in town. A spooktacular time awaits our readers.

From our family to yours: Happy Halloween!

The events are subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. For cancellations, updates and information, contact the event venue or organizer.
