Cars, community and a cause come together Saturday at Cahoon Park for the fourth annual Cars for Breast Cancer Awareness car show hosted by the Rollin Deuces.
Running from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 17 at 800 W. Fifth St., the free public event will feature a variety of vehicles, including lowriders, hot rods, motorcycles and bicycles. Visitors can also enjoy food trucks, vendors, a DJ and raffles. Donations are appreciated, and all proceeds will benefit the Angie Ramirez Memorial Foundation and Chaves County Cancer Fund.
Rose Herrera, organizer of the car show and a breast cancer survivor, said the event is about more than admiring vehicles. It also provides an opportunity to support people facing the financial challenges of cancer treatment.
The Angie Ramirez Memorial Foundation helps teachers, students, immediate family members and others battling cancer with expenses such as utility bills, car payments and health-related costs.
Herrera also encouraged community members to support cancer patients through small acts of kindness, such as checking in, making a phone call or offering help when needed.
With 90 or more vehicles expected, the event offers families and car enthusiasts a chance to enjoy the day while supporting local cancer-related causes during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
