By Kevin Hendricks, The Paper. — Rio Rancho Public Schools wants your two cents on its next five years, and it’s taking the conversation to the cafeteria.
The district hosts its first Horizon 2040 community meeting Thursday, Oct. 29, from 6-7 p.m. in the Mountain View Middle School cafeteria. Parents, students, staff and community members can share what’s working in RRPS schools and what needs improvement, according to a district announcement.
Each hourlong session opens with an overview of the planning process. Attendees then break into small groups led by district facilitators before pitching ideas to the full room. The district plans to offer Spanish interpretation at every meeting.
Horizon 2040 will guide the district from 2027 to 2032 while looking ahead to the Class of 2040, today’s 4-year-olds. District leaders told the school board in September they want every RRPS school ranked in the top 25% statewide by 2030.
Can’t make Thursday? Three more meetings follow in November, including a virtual session, and the district’s online survey remains open.
