Last month, the Chaves County Commissioners approved an upgrade to their audio-visual equipment used during the commission and other public meetings in their chamber as well as in the large conference suite.
The cost of the work is estimated to be approximately $140,000 and was included in the county government’s budget for the current fiscal year.
The commissioners awarded the project to API-SVL of Albuquerque. The company stated in its proposal to the county that this system “will support daily commission meetings, hybrid participation, public presentations, and future operational expansion while maintaining a streamlined and user-friendly experience for commissioners, staff, and meeting operators.”
Upgrades and enhancements include modernizing the rooms with new displays and wireless presentation and conferencing capabilities that allow people to bring their own devices.
The staff report refers to the ability to use one’s own electronic devices as “BYOD,” for short.
Other upgrades will be provided to improve room audio as well as the streaming and recording systems. This includes a new microphone system.
“These improvements will provide a more reliable, accessible and user-friendly experience for in-person and remote participants,” the staff report also noted.
