Mayfield had the biggest drop, sliding from No. 4 in Week 6 to No. 6 after its loss to Alamogordo.

Artesia was all business Friday, handing Chaparral a 51-0 loss in a game that ended at halftime under the NMAA’s 50-point rule. The Bulldogs lead the district in offense and defense, while the Lobos rank last in both categories.

Roswell flexed its muscles Friday against Gadsden in a matchup of teams that entered with 5-1 records. The Coyotes opened with a one-play scoring drive and never looked back, putting up 49 points against the Panthers. Roswell is one point shy of matching its regular-season scoring total from 2024, when the Coyotes last won the Class 5A state championship.

Alamogordo returned to its winning ways after a 54-19 loss to Artesia in Week 6. The Tigers edged Mayfield 24-19 in the closest game of the week, moving up in the district standings.

Goddard closed out the week Saturday with a blowout win over Deming. The Rockets earned their second district win, snapping a two-game losing streak that had left them sixth in the standings entering Week 7.

Clarification on Roswell being No. 1 in the 5A state rankings and No. 2 in the district rankings: Maxpreps takes into account point differential for district rankings, so Artesia is ahead because of its 182-point difference to Roswell’s 151. The teams have yet to have a head-to-head matchup, so they cannot be separated by a game result.
