Recent storms carved trenches through roads across Rio Rancho, and the city needs residents’ help tracking down every one.

Public Works crews are assessing reported damage and repairing the worst sites first, the city said in a Sept. 30 announcement. Crews rank each location by severity, public safety risk, accessibility and available resources.

Patience may be required. Some areas need more evaluation, equipment or materials before crews can make repairs, according to the city.

Along 10th Street SE just south of Unser Boulevard, runoff gouged channels several feet deep beside the roadway, chewing away the shoulder and exposing a buried line, photos taken by The Paper. on Oct. 1] show.

Residents can flag storm damage through the city’s Report Rio Rancho portal. Including the exact location and photos helps staff size up the problem, the city said.
