Young riders ages 3 to 18 can trade reins for handlebars at the fifth annual Bicycle Rodeo, a free event that teaches bike safety in Edgewood on Saturday, Oct. 3.
The Edgewood Lions Club, Edgewood Police Department and Boy Scout Troop 640 are hosting the event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Edgewood Town Hall parking lot, 171A Highway 344. Competition is open to kids across the East Mountains and Estancia Valley.
The Edgewood Police Department will offer bike safety classes, according to the event flyer. Members of the Sandia Mountain Lions Club and the New Braunfels, Texas, Lions Club will handle minor bike repairs, so a loose chain won’t derail anyone’s day. Duke City BMX Riders will help where needed.
All raffle proceeds will go to youth outreach programs in the East Mountains and Torrance County. Participants must bring their own bikes.
