Sandoval County seniors won’t have to hunt down help on their own this week — lawmakers are bringing the help to them. Five state legislators are hosting a Senior Service Fair Thursday, Aug. 20, aimed at connecting seniors and caregivers with services in one stop.

Reps. Catherine Cullen, Joshua Hernandez and Alan Martinez, along with Sens. Craig Brandt and Jay Block, are hosting the event from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Sandoval County Administrative Complex, 1500 Idalia Rd., Bldg. D, in Bernalillo, according to a release from the lawmakers’ offices.

The fair will bring together representatives from the New Mexico Aging and Long-Term Services Department, Sandoval County Senior Services, Rio Rancho Senior Services, Presbyterian Health Services and other organizations, the release states.

“Our goal is to make it easier for seniors and their families to connect directly with the services and resources available to them,” Cullen said in a statement. “We encourage seniors and caregivers across Sandoval County to stop by and learn more.”

The event is open to all Sandoval County senior citizens and their caregivers, and organizers say attendees can expect representatives from a range of aging-focused agencies beyond those named above. Those needing ADA accommodations can call 505-946-5657 ahead of time.
