Westside drivers on Coors Boulevard north of St. Joseph will soon have two more sets of eyes watching their speed. The city expects to activate northbound and southbound automated speed enforcement cameras there in early August, bringing the citywide total to 38.
The additions build on a corridor the city has steadily wired for enforcement since 2022. Unser already carries cameras at Tower, Flor Del Sol, Old Ouray and Gwin, while Coors itself has cameras between Montano and Paseo del Norte and on the Coors Bypass near Ellison. Camera locations are chosen using crash data, High Fatality and Injury Network maps and local feedback, the city said, and placement on state roads like Coors follows a memorandum of agreement with the New Mexico Department of Transportation.
“With ASE cameras in place, drivers are slowing down on our riskiest stretches, making Albuquerque streets safer,” said Jennifer Turner, director of the city’s Department of Municipal Development.
