Forget waiting for nightfall — Jemez Historic Site turns its telescopes on the sun this weekend for a look at the sky through Southwestern Indigenous eyes.

An instructional coordinator leads “Looking to the Skies” on Saturday, July 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., walking visitors through past and modern Indigenous perspectives on astronomy and how the sky above connects to the world below, according to the historic site.

Special solar viewing telescopes let visitors safely study the sun up close. Light snacks and refreshments follow the presentation.
