The City of Albuquerque and New Mexico United are partnering to create neighborhood watch parties of the FIFA World Cup into city parks this summer. The “Summer of Soccer” events will be hosted at city parks and public gathering spaces, featuring live broadcasts of international matchups, food trucks and family-friendly activities.
The watch parties will cover Team USA and Mexico games during the tournament’s pool play phase broadcast in different city parks for each game. Parks and Recreation Department Director Dave Simon encouraged residents to bring lawn chairs, blankets, umbrellas and their favorite team jerseys. Guests can purchase items from on-site food trucks with cash or card, depending on the vendor, or bring their own food and drinks.
“Whether you’re a die-hard soccer fan or just looking for a fun night out, Summer of Soccer is about bringing our community together,” Mayor Tim Keller said. The watch parties aim to transform public spaces into vibrant community hubs.
The live events and parks locations are:
- Thursday, June 11: Mexico vs. South Africa, 1 p.m., Westgate Community Center Athletic Fields.
- Friday, June 12: USA vs. Paraguay, 7 p.m., Montgomery Park.
- Thursday, June 18: Mexico vs. South Korea, 7 p.m., Phil Chacón Park.
- Friday, June 19: USA vs. Australia, 1 p.m., Mariposa Basin Park.
- Wednesday, June 24: Mexico vs. Czechia, 7 p.m., Civic Plaza.
- Thursday, June 25: USA vs. Turkey, 8 p.m., Civic Plaza.

If Team USA advances to the knockout round, additional events could be announced the city says. New Mexico United President Ron Patel said the organization looks forward to celebrating the global game alongside Albuquerque residents.
