Sandoval County residents can get free, hands-on science and agriculture education this month through a packed calendar of events from NMSU’s Cooperative Extension Service.
Upcoming highlights include:
- Field Guide Fridays — May 15, 9–11:30 a.m. at Santa Ana Native Plant Nursery, 140 Ranchitos Rd, Santa Ana Pueblo. Participants sketch and record native plant and pollinator observations that feed into a community field guide. Bring your own supplies.
- Discover Insects! Workshop — May 22, 9:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. at Bernalillo Community Museum, 118 Calle Malinche. Cooperative Extension experts lead field collection and identification for ages 14 and older. Lunch provided. Register online.
- Ask the Ag Agent! — May 14 in Cuba. Drop-in sessions at the County Fairgrounds Community Center (12:30–1:15 p.m.) and Cuba Soil & Water Conservation District (1:30–3:30 p.m.) feature farm and garden Q&A plus accessible tools demos from AgrAbility.
All events are free and open to the public. Participants with disabilities should contact the Sandoval County Extension office at least two weeks in advance to request accommodations.
