Residents across the Rio Rancho area can explore local art, strike a pose for Taylor Swift and catch free family entertainment across a packed May 1–3 weekend.

Friday, May 1

The weekend opens on two fronts: civic and creative. The Rio Rancho Governing Body holds a budget meeting at 9 a.m. at City Hall. That evening, the Corrales Art Studio Tour launches its free preview reception at the Old San Ysidro Church, 966 Old Church Road, from 6–8 p.m., sponsored by Corrales Mainstreet.

Live music runs across the area: Rio Grande Mud plays blues-rock at The Hopper Pub & Pizzeria from 6–9 p.m.; the Randomatics bring rock covers and originals to THE BLOCK at 7 p.m.; Resonance performs at Casa Vieja in Corrales at 7 p.m.; Suavecito plays jazz and Latin rhythms at Kaktus Brewing Co. in Bernalillo at 6:30 p.m.; and Mo Mandel opens his comedy run at Quezada’s Comedy Club at Santa Ana Casino at 7 p.m.

Saturday, May 2

Swifties can take over the lanes at Tenpins & More, 1416 Rio Rancho Dr. SE, starting at 5 p.m. for Tay-Swift Night — an all-Eras bowling bash running until close. Elsewhere Saturday, THE BLOCK hosts LoPhat at 7 p.m. for Latin, pop and R&B, with a late-night session upstairs at Top of the BLOCK at 8 p.m. (18+). Mo Mandel returns to Quezada’s for sets at 7 and 9:30 p.m.

The 28th annual Corrales Art Studio Tour continues through Sunday, running both days from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with 93 artists across 33 studios and galleries throughout the village. Work spans watercolor, oil, photography, clay, fiber, glass, wood and metal. Maps and catalogs are available at CorralesSocietyofArtists.org/studio-tour.

“The tour is a great opportunity for artists to interact with the community and local and visiting art collectors,” said Beth Waldron Yuhas, Corrales Society of Artists board president.

Sunday, May 3

Cars & Coffee kicks off the morning at THE BLOCK at 11 a.m., sponsored by State Employees Credit Union. Brain Gang Trivia runs at Top of the BLOCK at 5 p.m. (18+). The weekend closes with a free outdoor screening of Over the Hedge at THE BLOCK at 7 p.m. — bring blankets and chairs.
