The Paper. — A small plane crashed at the Los Altos Golf Course on Friday morning, briefly trapping two persons inside. Albuquerque Fire Rescue members extracted two persons who were transported to a local hospital. At least one of those people died, officials said.
Emergency crews responded to a 911 call at 11:39 a.m. and arrived within five minutes to find a small propeller plane with significant damage, according to a status update from officials on the scene.
A total of 12 AFR units were dispatched to the scene to handle treatment and triage. The New Mexico State Police will lead the investigation into the cause of the crash, with assistance from the Albuquerque Police Department.
As The Paper. arrived on the scene, police officers were establishing a large perimeter on the course and corralling startled golf players and staff to the pro shop where they were eventually allowed to exit via a service road.
This is a developing story that will be updated as information becomes available.
