Books on the Bosque will host an “Immigration in America for a World in Transition” workshop on Sunday from 1 – 3 p.m. at their location at 6261 Riverside Plaza Lane NW, Suite A-2.
The workshop will feature a panel of prominent speakers, including Attorney General Raul Torrez, New Mexico State Senator Cindy Nava, Executive Director of Somos Un Pueblo Unido Marcela Diaz, El CENTRO de Igualdad y Derechos Civic Engagement Director Rosalinda Dorado, New Mexico Immigrant Law Center Director of Policy & Coalition Building and immigration attorney Jessica Martinez, and UNM Professor of Political Science Dr. Gabriel Sanchez. El Centro de Igualdad y Derechos Executive Director Rachel LaZar will moderate the discussion.
The event aims to explore the topic of immigration, drawing inspiration from Eleanor Roosevelt’s quote: “What has happened to us in this country? If we study our own history, we find that we have always been ready to receive the unfortunate from other countries, and though this may seem a generous gesture on our part, we have profited a thousand-fold by what they have brought us.”
This workshop is part of a series of discussions planned over the next few months, addressing other critical issues such as Freedom of the Press, Universities: Freedom of Thought, and The Role and importance of a healthy Judiciary.
