The Torrance County Commission has scheduled a public hearing about the county’s Infrastructure Capital Improvement Plan (ICIP) during the next regular council meetings. ICIP provides a framework for county leaders to build a five-year plan for community growth and development projects.

Residents will have two opportunities to voice their concerns and ideas about public projects around the county on at 9 a.m. June 26 and again at 9 a.m. July 10. The meetings will be held on Zoom and in the Commission Chambers at the Torrance County Administrative Offices at 205 S. Ninth Street in Estancia.

Details on Zoom access and the agenda will be posted on the Torrance County website calendar.

Torrance County is seeking public input regarding public infrastructure projects around the county. That includes any public infrastructure project within Torrance County that fits the county’s legal statutes and is beneficial to the public.

Anyone who wants to give public comment during the hearing can do so.

Those who wish to send written comments can mail them to: the County Manager’s Office, Torrance County P.O. Box 48 Estancia, NM 87016. For more information on the hearing, contact Amanda Lujan, Torrance County grants administrator, at alujan@tcnm.us.

  1. Those Commissioners don’t want imput. They schedule the meetings when people are working or driving home from work. They say go to Zoom, but they don’t take into consideration that a lot of Torrance County doesn’t have internet capabilities, nor cell phone access. They also are not wanting input from home bound and people too poor to waste money of vehicle gasoline. If they would put a questionnaire on there website and advertise it on Nextdoor.com, Facebook.com and other social media sites, plus send it through the mail, they would actually get well balanced imput, but they don’t really want imput!
