It’s not too late (but close) to be on the list of readers who helped us exceed our #Giving Tuesday goal to raise $3,000 supporting local journalists keeping The Independent going. Donate now.
Hereโs what weโre following today.
First up, Bernalillo’s gorgeous 1867 Santuario de San Lorenzo is a finalist in a nationwide photo contest, and voting ends Friday. They need some serious cash for repair, so if you’ve got a minute, throw them a vote.
Sen. Cindy Nava is kicking off community dialogue sessions this weekend in Bernalillo if you want to grab some pan dulce and talk about what’s on your mind.
Castelion will be holding meetings next week about that hypersonic missile facility everyone has been arguing about. Whether you’re pro-jobs or pro-not-having-rocket-motors-near-your-house, they’ll be answering questions at three different sessions around Rio Rancho.
And on the really awful end of things, someone shot a dog named Ringo five times on a trail north of Rio Rancho. Ringo survived, but the sheriff’s office is looking for whoever did this. If you know anything, please call it in.

What would you change about the Signpost? Good, bad or ugly, we want to know. We’re making plans for how we cover local news next year — including some new beats. Help us by taking our short reader feedback survey today.
You count on the Signpost. We count on you.
Have you noticed that you never have to pay for the Signpost anymore? We believe news is a public good, so we never charge.
Keeping the Signpost going takes a whole village (actually a village, several towns and a lot of unincorporated parts of the county).
Instead of bombarding you with fundraising calls and pleas all year, we’re launching one big year-end campaign starting on #GivingTuesday. If just 1/3 of our readers donated the equivalent of $5/mo ($60/year) we can fund an additional reporter for the whole year. That’s the power of bundled giving and we’re hoping we can count on you.
You rely on The Signpost. We rely on you.
