Always free. Only Sandoval County. Here’s your afternoon check-in on what’s making news around Sandoval County and New Mexico.
It’s Thursday, Aug. 21 and, per usual, I’m ready for the weekend.
The Mariposa Community Association is hosting its annual Harvest Festival Saturday at Mariposa Park.
The free community event features more than 100 vendors offering arts and crafts, gourmet food, jewelry and yard art. Food trucks will be on site, and live music will provide entertainment throughout the day.
Check out the events calendar from The Paper. to see what’s going on in Sandoval County this weekend.
But if you’re headed to Corrales this weekend, slow down.
It turns out the charming Village of Corrales, famous for its rural tranquility and “slower pace of life,” has hit a bit of a snag. And by snag, I mean actual crashes, fender-benders and enough vehicular drama to make residents wonder if NASCAR has added the Corrales 500 to its schedule.
With over 90 signatures demanding change and stories that’ll make you grip your steering wheel a little tighter, it’s clear that the “safe community” reputation might need some… recalibrating.
Spoiler alert: When someone mentions “dead people hanging off my mailbox,” it’s definitely time to pump the brakes on our speed limit discussion. Read on to find out why the villageโs main drag is getting more attention than anyone bargained for.
