Corrales Comment

Before we get to the news (below), we have an important message for Comment readers…

Have you noticed that you no longer have to pay for a subscription to the Comment?

Instead of asking you to keep up with frustrating monthly subscriptions, we’re asking readers to support the Comment just once per year, and that time is now.

Look for the print edition of the Comment in your mailbox this weekend!

To save costs, most small newspapers stopped printing expensive paper editions years ago. They moved entirely online (if they didn’t close altogether). I don’t think that’s the right path for the Comment, but I do understand the challenge.

We love the print edition and we know you do too but, like everything else today, the cost to keep it going isn’t going down.

Advertising revenue from our local businesses covers most of the cost of printing, delivery and postage but the hard work of digging up news, checking facts and reporting it accurately is usually covered by subscriptions,
reader donations and small grants for special projects.

This year, we are trying a new, simpler approach. No paywalls and no monthly subscription hassles.

We simply ask you to support The Comment once per year at whatever level you can afford – and your support is tax deductible.

Reaching our goal ensures we can continue to bring you the Comment you rely on today. Exceeding it allows us to hire more local contributors to cover the village events that make living in 87048 so special, without having to raise advertising costs on local businesses.

Thank you for supporting independent, local journalism. It matters.
