The Torrance County Animal Shelter had to close the doors of its Community Animal Food Pantry due to a lack of food for local pets.

The pantry serves low-income families who need assistance feeding their animals and primarily operates from monetary and food donations from the community.

According to officials from the shelter, they’ve had a hard time procuring enough donations to keep the pantry open. They say they don’t know when they’ll be able to open up again until they have enough food to stay open for a longer period of time.

The pantry serves dozens of families every month.

The shelter accepts food donations by calling ahead to schedule a drop-off. For those who wish to make a monetary donation, visit torrancecounty.org and click the animal services tab.
