Wild Hearts Gallery will feature an art exhibit, GOURDEOUS ART, in Placitas from April 1-27, with an artist reception on April 12 from 1 to 3 p.m.

The exhibit will feature guest artists from the New Mexico Gourd Society. 

Gourd art is a traditional art form that takes hard-shell gourds into decorative pieces by the use of painting, carving, burning and embellishments. These craft form will be showcased in the Wild Hearts arts exhibition. 

The New Mexico Gourd Society, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting gourd horticulture and artistry, participates with works from 13 artists.

A special First Sunday in the Villages ARTScrawl event on April 6 from noon-2 p.m. will feature a live gourd wood-burning demonstration alongside coffee from SOMA Coffee House.

Wild Hearts Gallery, an artists’ collective of 15 local artists, is open Tuesday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
