The Placitas Community Library will host a special talk on April 26 at 2 p.m. featuring Dennis Bumgarner, who will recount his 3,196-mile, 32-day bicycle journey across the United States.
In 1997, Bumgarner and his son, Jon, cycled from Dillon Beach, California, to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, traversing mountain ranges, plains, and the eastern seaboard. Bumgarner will share stories from the “adventure of a lifetime” in an informal program at the library.
Bumgarner has lived in Placitas for eleven years. He moved from Indiana with his wife, Lee, to New Mexico. He is a practicing psychotherapist and the vice-chair of the Placitas Community Library. Though his cross-country days are behind him, he continues to cycle the New Mexican landscape.
