By Melanie Becker-Donovan — Goddard High School is set to host its 18th annual Veterans Day assembly on Nov. 5 at 1:15 p.m. to honor local veterans and recognize the sacrifices they and their families have made for the nation’s freedom.
The assembly aims to teach students the importance of honoring veterans, recognizing their service and understanding the sacrifices military service can require of them and their loved ones.
“It’s a day of retrospect, of gratitude and remembrance,” said Donna Ramey, secretary to the principal.
Veterans and their families will also have an opportunity to mingle and enjoy refreshments and appetizers.
“I hope they realize the sacrifice that the veterans and their loved ones have made for our freedoms,” said Ramey about what she hopes the students take away from the event.
