Ahead of Roswell’s biggest game of the season, the Coyotes are teaming with the Roswell Youth Soccer Association (RYSA) to pack Cielo Grande Sports Complex when the Hobbs Eagles visit on Saturday.
“We really need our crowd, and even for this game, we’re partnering with the youth soccer league to get the kids in free,” Roswell head coach Robert Madrid said. “We need anyone else that we can get to back us and give us momentum from the sidelines. So calling on the community to come out and support the boys. It’s a big one this weekend.”
Saturday won’t be the first time the Coyotes and RYSA have partnered together. While not a season-long partnership, Roswell soccer players have been involved with the youth scene in the city earlier this year.
“Coach Madrid has made a concerted effort to instill in his players the importance of service and giving back. We saw that firsthand during our spring tournament, when many players came out to help wherever needed,” RYSA President Kate Davenport said. “From picking up trash and refereeing games to managing game cards, distributing water and assisting with other tournament operations, their willingness to serve made a meaningful difference. We appreciate Coach Madrid’s leadership in teaching these young men the value of contributing beyond the field.”
The partnership continues to support a pipeline that has helped develop many of the city’s high school soccer players. For Davenport, it’s important to give younger fans the opportunity to interact with the Coyotes, as they may one day be the players on the field battling for a district title at Cielo Grande Sports Complex.
“We see tremendous value in creating opportunities for our local high school players to remain connected to the sport and give back to the community that helped them develop as athletes,” Davenport said.
Madrid wants those younger players to be a part of the Coyotes’ journey to a potential district title.
“I would say it’s the biggest game that’s happened in Roswell in a long time,” Madrid said. “It’s the two, in my opinion, the top two teams in the state, the one versus the two, and there’s a trophy on the line.”
RYSA players who wear their jerseys will gain free admission to the game. A 50/50 raffle will also be held with proceeds being donated to support breast cancer awareness.
