Albuquerque rolled up its sleeves Saturday and put its trash where it belongs.
Volunteers fanned out from five hubs, stretching from the Bosque to Nob Hill and the Northeast Heights, for the fifth annual Imagine ABQ Day. They filled bags with litter, weeds and whatever else the wind left behind. The cleanup takes place on the last Saturday of September for a reason: it gets the city looking sharp before hundreds of thousands of visitors float in for Balloon Fiesta.
In Barelas, neighbors gathered for a mural reveal and a community walk. Breaking Bad’s Salamanca Twins, the unlikely faces of the state’s anti-litter campaign, posed for photos, greeted fans and filled trash bags instead of making threats.
