The Paper. in Rio Rancho

Your daily guide to living in the City of Vision.

Today is Tuesday, July 28 and here’s what’s making news in the City of Visionโ€ฆ

Rio Rancho’s $452 million budget is official โ€” with some trims. The Governing Body signed off on the final FY2027 spending plan July 23, but not without cutting City Hall renovations and scaling back the Tulip Road design project after last year’s savings came in $1.7 million short of projections.

Roy, New Mexico just hosted 10 statewide GOP candidates. A Rio Rancho resident named Nancy Jinks organized a candidate forum in a town with fewer residents than most Rio Rancho neighborhoods โ€” and got nearly the entire Republican statewide ticket to show up.

A 5-month-old was left in a hot car in Corrales for four hours โ€” and is expected to recover. The baby’s father faces a felony child abuse charge following the July 20 incident on Meadowlark Lane, where paramedics performed life-saving measures before airlifting the infant to UNM Hospital.
