Today is Thursday, July 16 and here’s what’s making news in the City of Visionโฆ
>>Tonight is the night.<< We’re throwing a party and we want you there. Plus, thereโs plenty to do this weekend and the county assessor resigned.
Come celebrate with us tonight at THE BLOCK. The Paper.’s Summer BLOCK Party kicks off at 7 p.m. at The BLOCK, 7805 Enchanted Hills Blvd. NE โ free, open to all, with DJ Hump, a live mural painting and charcuterie from Hive and Honey. The weekend goes from there: Steven Michael Quezada of Breaking Bad does stand-up at Quezada’s Friday and Saturday, live music three nights at THE BLOCK, the World Cup Final on every screen Sunday afternoon and Indiana Jones under the stars Sunday night.ย
The Sandoval County assessor is out โ and she went down swinging. Linda Gallegos resigned effective July 10, five weeks after commissioners voted to demand it over her dual-paycheck arrangement, collecting both a $86,626 county salary and a new $155,000 state job simultaneously. Her resignation letter accused commissioners of “political grandstanding” and she told us she felt pride, not regret, walking out. Commission Chair Jordan Juarez called it a “breach of public trust.”
