Progress Now: Pints and Perrier (Thursday 14, Community)

If you’re one of those types of people who’s all fired up about early voting in the primary election, you’re gonna wanna be down at JUNO brewery + cafe + art (1501 First St. NW) for Progress Now: Pints and Perrier on Thursday, May 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. A $5 suggested donation gets you in the door to have some sips (alcoholic or otherwise) with the fine folks from Progress Now NM. Organizers promise “trivia, progressive hilarity and primary elections chat.” This is a 21+ event (although minors are welcome with a parent).
The Art of Jazz with Tracey Whitney (Friday 15, Music)

Albuquerque’s newest music club Babydoll’s House of Jazz (6501 Americas Parkway, Ste 110B) is open for business. The weekend gets rolling with The Art of Jazz with Tracy Whitney. Babydoll’s owner-proprietor and resident performer Tracey Whitney performs her own brand of classic jazz and sophisticated soul on Friday, May 14 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. She and her band keep the place filled with music every Friday and Saturday night. And you never know who might drop by for a guest appearance.
Corrales Garden Tour (Saturday 16, Outdoors)

The 15th annual Corrales Garden Tour blooms in the Village of Corrales this Saturday, May 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Stroll through Corrales sites that showcase eco-friendly practices, water-wise landscaping, and creative solutions for thriving in our unique environment. Rio Rancho’s Biggest Yard Sale (Saturday 16, Market)

Cabezon Community Center and Park (2307 Cabezon Blvd. SE) is hosting what’s billed as Rio Rancho’s Biggest Yard Sale. Residents are encouraged to clean out their garages, spare bedrooms, attics and sheds and set up shop in the Park on Saturday, May 16 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The rest of us are free to fill up our garages, spare bedrooms, attics and sheds with all the cool stuff we find for sale. Vendor spaces are $35 and must be registered in advance (anc.apm.activecommunities.com/rioranchoparksandrec/home). For shoppers, admission is free, so feel free to haggle over prices.
The 20th Annual Crawdaddy Blues Fest (Saturday 16, Festival)

There’s a beautiful weekend lined up, so maybe you should pile into your car and head out to the Crawdaddy Blues Fest at the Mineshaft Tavern in Madrid (2846 NM-14). Get your tickets ($40 at the gate, $35 in advance at tickets.holdmyticket.com/tickets/461174) for Saturday, May 16 or Sunday, May 17. Doors swing open at noon for a full day and night of blues bands (Rudy Boy, Felix y Los Gatos, Julie Stewart & Animal Parade, Alex Maryol, Ken Valdez and plenty more!). Plus live crawfish from Broussard’s Crawfish Farm in Nome, TX and fresh-squeezed New Orleans-style Hurricanes. It’s a party!
Peelander-Z (Monday 18, Music)

Mad Japanese-American art punk rockers Peelander-Z invade Insideout (622 Central Ave. SW) on Monday, May 18 at 8 p.m. The band bills itself as a “Japanese Action Comic Punk band hailing from the Z area of Planet Peelander,” and their shows are always chock full of cartoonish chaos and loud guitars. Tickets will cost you $20 in advance (tickets.holdmyticket.com/tickets/461035). Dazeyrot and Dog Jury are the local openers.
