B Street Market Farm will receive more than $83,000 in federal funding to purchase equipment that will help extend the harvest season for local produce.
The Mountainair business is among 18 New Mexico agribusinesses awarded grants totaling $3.54 million through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure program. The grants, distributed in partnership with the New Mexico Department of Agriculture, aim to strengthen the middle of the state’s food supply chain.
B Street Market Farm will use its $83,089 award for the “B Street Extend the Harvest Project,” which will support expanded processing and distribution capabilities for locally grown products.
“By investing in the middle of the supply chain, we’re helping New Mexico producers bring more local food to market and strengthening our state’s food system,” New Mexico Secretary of Agriculture Jeff Witte said in a press release.
The competitive grant program supports projects that increase capacity for processing, aggregation and distribution of local foods. Funded initiatives include equipment purchases, facility construction and expansion of processing operations.
Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said the investments will strengthen connections between New Mexicans and locally grown food.
“Supporting our farmers, ranchers and food entrepreneurs is an investment in our economy, and in healthier communities and stronger connections between New Mexicans and the food grown here at home,” Lujan Grisham said.
All projects must be completed by Dec. 15, 2026.
