Torrance County Sheriff David Frazee is requesting residents nominate deputies and civilian employees for the department’s annual “Deputy of the Year Award and Civilian of the Year Award,” according to a press release issued by the sheriff’s office.

The awards recognize outstanding service to the community, with selections based on exemplary service, bravery, leadership and community engagement, according to the release.

Frazee is asking the community to submit both nominations supporting employees and letters opposing specific employees “for conduct they believe is counter-productive to good law enforcement practices,” the press release states.

“We need input from the community as an integral part of this decision-making process,” the sheriff said in the release.

The sheriff’s office will conduct the selection process Dec. 15, and awards will be presented at the department’s annual Christmas banquet Dec. 22, according to the announcement.

Community members can submit nominations via email to dfrazee@tcnm.us or mail them to Sheriff David E. Frazee, 903 N. 5th St. (P.O. Box 498), Estancia, NM 87016.

Questions or concerns can be directed to the Torrance County Sheriff’s Office at 505-544-4900.
