The Manzano Mountain Arts Council will host its Jazz & Blues Festival on Saturday, Nov. 15, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the MMAC Center, 101 E. Broadway.
The free event will feature performances by Tracey Whitney and Oscar Butler, with an art exhibit opening and wine tasting also scheduled.
Whitney, a former Raelette who performed with legendary soul singer Ray Charles, delivers what organizers describe as a signature blend of classic jazz and sophisticated soul. Since relocating from Los Angeles to Albuquerque, she has become a cornerstone of New Mexico’s jazz scene, performing for Santa Fe Bandstand, Route 66 Summerfest and the New Mexico Jazz Workshop.
Her album “Live at the Outpost Performance Space” earned a New Mexico Music Award nomination. In 2024, she received the New Mexico Entertainment Award for Top Jazz/Blues Artist and recognition from the Albuquerque Film + Music Experience. Whitney performs weekly at The Smoky Note in Nob Hill.
Butler, an award-winning blues and indie folk artist, is a 2025 Telluride Blues Challenge finalist and multiple New Mexico award winner. His “Smooth Like Gravy Gourmet Blues Show” combines original music and narrative in a one-man performance that tours listening rooms, theaters, and festivals across the Southwest.
The festival will also feature an opening reception for the “Dwellings” art exhibit at noon. Jarales Wines will be available for purchase for guests 21 and older.
The event is free and open to the public, though donations will be accepted. It is made possible by funding from New Mexico Arts and the New Mexico Music Commission.
