The Edgewood Police Department will team up with the Edgewood Lions Club and Boy Scout Troop 640 to host their fourth annual Bicycle Rodeo on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The free event will take place in the Edgewood Town Hall parking lot at 171A Highway 344. Participants must bring their own bicycles.
The competition is open to youngsters ages 5-18 from the East Mountains and Estancia Valley. Activities include bike safety classes taught by police officers, obstacle courses, speed testing with radar guns and minor bike repairs performed by Lions Club members.
Free helmets will be provided to the first 40 registered participants. Multiple age categories will compete for chances to win new bicycles through drawings.
“Come out for a great day of friendly competition, fun, fellowship and friendship,” organizers said in promotional materials.
Duke City BMX Riders will assist with the event. All proceeds from drawings will be donated to youth outreach programs in the East Mountains.
