Edgewood authorities have issued a travel advisory warning drivers to avoid an unimproved section of Horton Road between Nugent and Frost roads due to impassable muddy conditions.
The Edgewood Police Department reported Thursday that recent rains have created deep mud on the unpaved portion of Horton Road north of Nugent, making the roadway impassable for vehicles. Several vehicles have become stuck in the mud, according to police.
Drivers are advised to use alternate routes to reach their destinations. The recommended detour directs traffic from Horton Road west to Nugent Road, then west to Broken Arrow Road, and north to Frost Road. Motorists can also use State Road 344 as an alternative route.
The police department has not provided an estimated timeline for when the road section might be passable again. Conditions will likely depend on weather patterns and the time needed for the roadway to dry sufficiently for safe travel.
The affected area is on the unimproved, unpaved section of Horton Road in the rural area north of the Nugent Road intersection.
Drivers are urged to exercise caution and avoid attempting to traverse the muddy section, as vehicle recovery from the area may be difficult and costly.
