The New Mexico Department of Transportation will begin resealing lanes on U.S. Highway 60 through Mountainair starting Sept. 15, Mayor Peter Nieto announced.
The project, being carried out by NMDOT and a subcontractor, will require detours and traffic diversions through side streets while the sealing treatment cures, according to Nieto’s announcement.
“We kindly ask all residents and visitors to be patient as crews work through town,” Nieto said in the announcement.
The mayor urged drivers to follow all posted signs and detours, drive safely and allow extra travel time during the construction period.
Updates on the project will be posted on NM Roads, the state’s traffic information system, Nieto said.
The mayor described the work as “important improvements” and thanked residents in advance for their cooperation during the project.
