U.S. Eagle Federal Credit Union announced Wednesday it is accepting applications for $20,000 in classroom grants to support public and charter school teachers across New Mexico.
The credit union’s ARNIA Foundation will distribute individual grants ranging from $500 to $2,500 through its enrichEd Classroom Grant Program, with a focus on financial literacy education.
“With the recent freeze in federal funding affecting K-12 public schools across the state, our enrichEd grant can make an important impact on New Mexico classrooms,” said Marsha Majors, president and CEO of U.S. Eagle Federal Credit Union.
The grants can fund financial literacy curricula that teach students budgeting, savings account management, expense planning and other money management skills, according to Nadine Buerger, executive director of the ARNIA Foundation.
“As a crucial life skill, financial wellness should be integrated into classrooms to help empower students to make informed decisions about their own financial well-being,” Buerger said.
Teachers have until Sept. 28 to submit applications at USEagle.org/Enriched. A philanthropic committee will evaluate submissions based on availability, need, number of students served and geographic diversity, with recipients announced in October.
In 2024, the foundation awarded 10 grants totaling $20,000 to K-12 educators statewide.
U.S. Eagle Federal Credit Union operates 10 locations in Albuquerque, Bernalillo, Farmington and Santa Fe.
