A new mural in downtown Albuquerque, created by Jesse Littlebird and Thomas Christopher Haag, depicts the Native American buffalo across time alongside portals to the region’s landscapes. Haag explains the buffalo’s symbolism facing storms head-on as a metaphor for resilience. The piece, located at the El Rey Theater, is part of Albuquerque’s Route 66 centennial celebration, which now features about 23 artworks along the route.
