After more than a year since the last event, Mountainair Mayor Peter Nieto has announced the return of Adult Fun Day, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 13.
The community event, originally planned as a quarterly gathering, will kick off following the conclusion of the Mountainair Fire & Flavor Fest, which typically wraps up between 2-3 p.m.
“It’s been over a year since our last Adult Fun Day—we originally planned for these to be quarterly, but hey, better late than never!” Nieto said in his announcement to residents.
The inaugural Adult Fun Day last August proved to be a hit with participants, featuring a day trip to Albuquerque that included dinner at the Electric Playhouse, an escape room challenge, ice cream and concluded with entertainment at Isleta Casino. The event was designed to give adults in the community a chance to socialize outside their usual circles in a relaxed, kid-free environment.
While specific activities for this year’s event are still being finalized, Mayor Nieto said that organizers want community input on the itinerary. The group will depart for Albuquerque in the late afternoon for dinner and various activities.
The estimated cost is approximately $75 per person, though the final price will depend on attendance numbers and selected activities. Interested residents can sign up through an online form at https://form.jotform.com/242095086116051.
Mayor Nieto stressed the importance of early registration, noting that payment will be required in advance due to group booking arrangements. “Because we book activities at a group rate, last-minute cancellations affect the cost for everyone,” he said, adding that refunds will not be available for participants who decide not to attend after signing up.
The mayor encouraged broad participation, noting that larger attendance will enhance the experience for everyone involved. “The more people we have, the more fun it will be—so gather your friends and join us for a night of food, laughter, and adult-only fun.”
