This weekend, Moriarty’s Veterans of Foreign Wars will come together in a show of patriotism and compassion through two events designed to honor veterans and uplift a young boy battling cancer.
On Friday at 5 p.m., American Legion Post 22 will host a flag retirement ceremony at the Torrance County Fair. Attendees will witness a demonstration on the respectful and proper ways to retire worn and tattered U.S. flags, a longstanding tradition meant to honor the symbol of the nation and those who served under it.
The events continue on Saturday at 12:30 p.m at the VFW Building, where community members will recognize a young boy who is courageously fighting cancer. The event aims to celebrate his bravery while offering encouragement and solidarity from local veterans and supporters alike.
