The Placitas Community Library Art Committee is presenting an exhibition of assemblage works from June 14 to July 17 in the library’s Gracie Lee Community Room. The exhibit will feature more than 20 artists from Placitas and surrounding areas.

Assemblage, unlike collage, combines multidimensional objects into an artistic whole, either free-standing or projecting from the wall. The exhibition will showcase mixed media constructions incorporating everyday items, discarded materials, wood, cardboard, and natural and found objects. The artwork will include unique jewelry pieces to larger sculptural works, reflecting the artists’ life experiences.

A reception for the exhibit will be held on Friday, June 27, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. All artwork on display will be available for sale, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the library.

The Placitas Community Library hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. For additional information or images, contact Exhibit Coordinators Colleen Gregoire at czgregoire@gmail.com or Rebecca Cohen at rscplacitas@comcast.net.
