A suspect that the FBI has nicknamed the “Tan Pants Bandit” may need a new moniker now that he is wanted in connection with yet another Rio Rancho bank robbery. During this robbery, the suspect was wearing gray skinny jeans.

The suspect may be using different disguises. According to an FBI press release, the suspect is now accused of robbing the Washington Federal Bank at 2518 Southern Blvd SE in Rio Rancho at approximately 4:30 p.m. May 3. In addition to gray skinny jeans, the suspect wore a blue hat, a black face mask, a black long-sleeve shirt and glasses.

Most recently, the suspect was accused of robbing the Bank of Albuquerque at 6600 Fourth St. in Los Ranchos on May 23. He is described as a white male, 5’7’’ with a stocky build. Besides his signature tan pants, he wore a black button-up shirt, a black baseball cap with a white emblem on the front, a black face mask, black and white Nike sneakers and glasses during his most recent robbery.

The FBI says that during the May 23 robbery, the suspect demanded money and the teller handed it over. Photos from the press release show the “Tan Pants Bandit” holding a piece of paper in front of the teller but the pictures do not appear to show him brandishing a weapon. The release said the suspect fled westbound on Nora Vista Road toward Fourth Street. His vehicle was described as a white sedan, likely a 2016 Buick Verano.

The “Tan Pants Bandit” is wanted in the following robberies:

  • First Financial Credit Union of Rio Rancho at 2201 Rio Rancho Blvd. SE at approximately 5:15 p.m. March 4.
  • Rio Grande Credit Union of Rio Rancho at 1526 Unser Blvd. SE at approximately 4:45 p.m. April 1.
