As we know, Sandoval County is special. It’s why we live here. Diverse communities, cities, towns, villages and tribal communities. Urban spaces and rural expanse. Work opportunities range from high-tech, skilled positions to hospitality jobs to ranching and farming. Our 3,714 square miles also boast recreational areas that attract residents and visitors alike. And we like it this way.
What also makes us special is that we are home to many cultures, we offer so much to the people who live here and we are a safe county. All of these elements contribute to the enhanced quality of life that we hold precious, and because we do, it is our responsibility to continue to protect and nurture it.
There are four General Obligation Bonds on the ballot this election. These GO Bonds impact our county libraries, county roads, county fairgrounds, county animal services, county emergency services, and much, much more. These items are how we perpetuate the life we love in Sandoval County, and the cost is not prohibitive. Truly, it is not.
And, while all items listed on the GO Bonds have merit, close to my heart, as many of you know, is the Animal Resource Center (Question 3). Sandoval County finally has the opportunity to offer quality care and shelter to our abandoned and stray dogs and cats from all over the county through the construction of this facility. We love our animals (many Sandoval County households have more than one dog and more than one cat and combinations of both) and this is how we can continue our commitment to them.
For about $11 more a year in property taxes (which is $3 less than it was just two years ago), a YES vote for all four questions supports a safer and improved way of life for all county residents.
YES, for approximately $11 more a year (based on a $300,000 home with an assessed value of $100,000), you can help to preserve Sandoval County as we know it, and as we want it to be.
