The Rio Rancho Police Department delivered an unfortunate update Nov. 19 on the devastating two-vehicle crash that killed four people last week.

According to RRPD, 36-year-old father Craig Miller, 6-year-old Craig Miller Jr., Laila Miller, who was just shy of her first birthday, and the Miller family’s unborn child (26 weeks along) all died in the fiery crash that happened Nov. 13 near King Boulevard and Sheba Drive.

The surviving members of the Miller family include the mother and two young sons, ages 4 and 8, who sustained significant injuries but are currently in stable condition.

The driver of the other vehicle, Francisco Paredes, remains hospitalized in critical condition “as medical staff work tirelessly to save his life.”

“The toll of this heartbreaking crash is immeasurable. The loss of such young, vibrant lives, alongside the tragedy of losing an unborn child, is a wound that will not easily heal. The Miller family and Mr. Paredes’ loved ones are now faced with unimaginable grief and uncertainty as they navigate the aftermath of this life-altering event,” RRPD Capt. Jacquelynn Reedy said in a press release. “Our entire community grieves alongside them, and we extend our deepest sympathies to everyone affected. May we find strength in unity as we support the families in their time of need.”

The circumstances leading to the crash remain under investigation.
