The Bosque Brewing Co. announced changes to its brewing production strategy at its Bosque North facility in Bernalillo to address challenges with wastewater that is generated during the brewing process.

The changes are to comply with the Town of Bernalillo’s wastewater requirements and ensure smooth operations. Bosque will temporarily move the production of five core beers to Sleeping Giant Brewing Company, a contract brewery in Denver, while the company works on a long-term solution.

“Over the past couple of years, we’ve worked closely with the Town of Bernalillo and our landlord to address challenges surrounding the brewing process wastewater generated at our Bosque North production facility,” Bosque Brewing leadership said in the statement. “This interim change in our production strategy allows us to dedicate more focus and creativity on the rotating taproom specialties that have become equally known and loved, as well as on the local partnerships that have been a part of our mission of crafting a greater sense of belonging and pride in New Mexico since we opened in 2012.”

According to the company, it is actively exploring sustainable wastewater management solutions to ensure compliance and support its continued growth in Bernalillo. While significant efforts have been made to reduce wastewater output, the company has reached a point where additional adjustments are necessary to meet the town’s requirements.

The company did not provide specific details about the wastewater challenges or the nature of the adjustments needed to comply with the Town of Bernalillo’s requirements.

At press time, the town did not respond to the Signpost on the issue, and there was no word on whether the changes would impact job roles at Bosque North.

According to the statement, the Denver facility will brew five beers: Riverwalker, EOP, Weekend Trails, Scotia, and Salt Money. Bosque North will focus on brewing small-batch taproom specialties, continuing its tradition of releasing about 50 rotating offerings last year and aiming to do the same this year.

“We are more than confident in their ability to help get us through this time,” the company said.

Bosque Brewing Co. previously worked with Sleeping Giant in 2016 when the Bernalillo facility was under construction.
