The North Central Regional Transit District (NCRTD), also known as the Blue Bus, is partnering with the Town of Edgewood, Edgewood Lions Club of New Mexico, Sandia Mountain Lions Club and East Mountain Food Pantry to host a Stuff-The-Bus Event aimed at helping families in need during the holiday season.

The food drive is set for Dec. 14 from 9 a.m. to1 p.m. at Smith’s, 2 NM-344 N in Edgewood.

Residents are invited to donate nonperishable food items to fill the bus with much-needed provisions for families who might otherwise go without this holiday season. According to a press release, “the Blue Bus and its partners are committed to fostering a spirit of generosity and service in the community” and to make the holidays brighter for those in need.

Volunteers will be on site to collect and load the donations onto the bus. The donations will be distributed to families in need through the East Mountain Food Pantry, ensuring they receive support in time for the holidays.

Donors will be “stuffing” a NCRTD MyBlue rideshare van. MyBlue service was introduced to the Edgewood community in October. The app-based shared ride service offers affordable and convenient door-to-door rides for Edgewood residents for just $1 per trip. This service is designed to enhance mobility and accessibility within the community. For more information about MyBlue, visit ncrtd.org/myblue.
