Having trouble finding a designated driver for Labor Day weekend?
The “Take a Ride on Us” program is an option for residents of Bernalillo, Sandoval and Santa Fe counties.
The program is offering discounts on up to 2,500 rideshare trips over the weekend.
Riders can enter the code NMLD24 under the voucher section of the Uber app to get a credit of up to $10. The credit does not cover Uber Eats or a driver’s tip.
Codes can also be downloaded here. Vouchers are available on a first-come, first-served basis until 2 a.m. Tuesday.
The program is part of an ongoing partnership between Cumulus Media Albuquerque, the Bernalillo County Department of Behavioral Health Services, Sandoval County DWI Prevention, Santa Fe County DWI Prevention, Glasheen Valles and Inderman Injury Lawyers, Sandia Resort & Casino and the New Mexico Department of Transportation.
“Take a Ride on Us” was created in 2017 by Cumulus Media Albuquerque. According to a press release, the program has provided safe rides to more than 49,000 riders in the Albuquerque metro area.
Bernalillo County contributes $80,000 in liquor excise tax revenue to the annual effort.
Food, fun and football
The picnic will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 2
The City of Albuquerque and the Central New Mexico Labor Council will celebrate Labor Day with a picnic at Balloon Fiesta Park.
The picnic will include a football game between the union team and Mayor Tim Keller’s team. There will also be free food and music.

Albuquerque Public Schools: closed.
Banks: most will be closed, though some services will be available through ATMs.
Bernalillo County: All offices closed. Emergency services will be available.
City of Albuquerque: most offices closed. Trash collection will still take place.
New Mexico state government: most offices closed Some services, including The Unemployment Insurance Tax & Claims System will be available online.
Retail: most stores will be open, but hours may be changed.
Transportation: ABQ RIDE bus, Sun Van, and ABQ RIDE Connect service suspended. Albuquerque International Sunport will be open.
