The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta starts tomorrow and with hundreds of thousands of spectators expected to descend on the metro area, the “Take a Ride on Us” program is back.
Residents of Bernalillo, Sandoval and Santa Fe counties are eligible for discounted rideshare trips starting today at 10 a.m., through Friday Oct. 13, at 6 p.m. Riders can enter the code BALLOON24 in the Uber app, under the “Vouchers” section, or use this link to receive up to $10 off two rides.
The program has a limit of 2,000 trips available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The credit applies only to rides and does not cover Uber Eats or a driver’s tip.
“We encourage all residents to take advantage of this program during Balloon Fiesta, Interim County Manager Shirley Ragin said in a news release. “By providing easy access to safe rides, we can help ensure everyone enjoys the festivities responsibly.”
The program is part of an ongoing partnership between Cumulus Media Albuquerque, the Bernalillo County Department of Behavioral Health Services, Sandoval County DWI Prevention, Santa Fe County DWI Prevention, Glasheen Valles and Inderman Injury Lawyers, Sandia Resort & Casino and the New Mexico Department of Transportation.
The initiative aims to cut down on drunk driving during Balloon Fiesta, the release states.
