At approximately 10:45 p.m. Sept. 11, Torrance County and Moriarty fire departments were dispatched to a vehicle fire at mile marker 30 on Highway 41.
According to an alert from the Moriarty Fire Department, a sedan was pulled off to the side of the road fully engulfed in flames when they arrived, and an adult and one child were inside the vehicle when the fire started.
The alert said both passengers were able to make it out of the vehicle with no injuries, and firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and prevent serious damage to the immediate surrounding grasslands.
According to the alert, no firefighters or law enforcement officers were injured and the cause of the fire was not determined.
