East Mountain Girl Scout troops are collecting non-perishable food items through Nov. 14 to help local families facing food insecurity.
The drive accepts donations at four locations: Los Vecinos Community Center at 478 NM-333 in Tijeras, Vista Grande Community Center at 15 La Madera Road in Sandia Park, Triangle Grocery at 12165 State Highway 14 N in Cedar Crest, and Lantern Ridge at 12540 NM-14 in Sandia Park.
Organizers are requesting canned tomatoes, peanut butter, rice, pasta, canned or dried beans and oatmeal. Bulk items are especially welcome.
“We are coming together as a community to make a positive impact on the lives of those facing food insecurity,” according to the announcement.
