The Town of Edgewood will welcome community members to join in costume on Saturday, Nov. 1 in its annual Zombie Fun Run.
The event, which is a 5K fun run and walk, starts in Venus park at 9 a.m. Nov. 1., and community members are invited to come in costume.
The event has both a running and a walking route. The walking route is 1.2 miles, Edgewood Community Liaison Linda Burke told The Independent. The route is entirely on trails, she said.
The run is one of “a few good things fun things happening in Edgewood to keep the community busy,” Burke said at the Town Commission meeting on Tuesday.
The Zombie Fun Run comes the morning after Edgewood’s biggest October event. The Trunk or Treat, which usually sees over 1,000 attendees, will also welcome the community to Venus Park from 6-8 p.m. on Halloween — 12 hours before runners take to the trails there.
Check-in for the fun run begins at 7:30, and the route ends up back in Venus Park, Burke said.
The event includes awards for best costumes in different age categories, as well as awards for fastest running times.
